There is a common tendency of people who have no clue about forensics in general to believe that a forensic investigator will always have to deal with dead bodies, with murder, blood and serial killers. While the world that we are currently living in has plenty of these, it is not always the case the blame it all on this kind of career. A forensic investigator deals with A LOT OF VARIOUS TYPE OF CRIMES and what has been mentioned above is not always true. While there is a victim no matter of what type of crime we are dealing with, in most of the cases it is not correct to affirm that running an investigation is gross and involves the study of gross things.

As you already know (you the person who wants to become a forensic investigator), there are plenty of crimes out there, which are categorized in types in order to be able to easily establish certain terminology and stop wasting time calling a serial killer a mentally unstable person who tries to seek revenge on innocent people by regularly violently murdering them based on a certain plan or scheme. It isn’t the case to do this and that’s why the terminology of various types of crimes and murders has been established. Now specialists like forensic investigators have the chance to easier determine the whole background of a possible crime based on the initial intention of the aggressor.

Assaults

The first type of crime which is also seriously punished by law of most countries is actually the assault on a person. No matter what he or she has done to you, either now or in the past, physical or psychological harassment is not the way to set things straight. If you are an honest citizen you can fill in the court against them or try to figure other more human ways of solving this matter. Nevertheless, many psychologically unstable people out there commit assaults just because of jealousy, anger, misunderstand or being under the influence of alcohol or other mind scraping drugs. Assaults are quite common nowadays, especially in the bad neighborhoods of certain cities; and no matter if a crime like this involves a directly deceased or partially violently injured victim, a forensic investigator’s duty is once again to collect all the possible evidence about this type of crime and to be able to interpret it based on the performed analysis. It all has to be presented in a report to the superiors at the end of the day.

Robberies

While most people honestly try to earn their money by running a business or going to a job, day by day, without hesitation, there are villains who consider that the society they live in owns them something and try to get everything they want for free, by committing robberies. While their main intention is to get any precious objects or money, it happens that the use of guns or any other deadly weapons is inevitable. Millions of people all over the world have died due to certain robberies either because the criminal itself was unable to control his emotions and feelings and pressed on the trigger, either because the robbed person wanted to prove that he knows how to handle it and got his throat cut off. Forensic investigators need to be able to reveal all the possible relations between the aggressor and the victim and to figure out if this was a true robbery that produced the crime, or was it a premeditated crime that is trying to be hidden under the apparent robbery. Go figure out, you are the forensic investigator.

Rapes

Unfortunately, this violent misbehavior still continues to exist all over the world and no matter how professional forensic investigators are, it is still extremely difficult to figure out ways to stop these guys from doing what they do. Nevertheless, if a mentally unstable criminal is running wild and making women or any other people suffer because of the committed rapes, he has to be immediately stopped or more unwanted crimes will be done. While it is not always pleasant to gather evidence from the place of a rape followed by a murder, the forensic investigator has to have enough courage to perform a very detailed analysis of everything that happened and to try and assume a possible scenario of everything that happened. Sometimes, the reasons behind a rape can determine to understand the real intention of the criminal. We have talked about it before, and it seems that as long as people are going to exist in this world, stopping violent crime from happening won’t be easy to do. However, forensic investigators play a vital role in this process and sometimes they are the only hope.

Murders

Even if there is no difference between two dead bodies (because they are both dead), forensic investigators need to be able to make the difference between premeditated murder and a person accidentally shot during a gang fight. It’s not easy to do, but once again, the detailed study of any existing evidence can help a professional detective discover the truth. Let’s take a car crash as an example. Do you know how many premeditated car accidents are done in order to get rid of someone? Well, if having the right level of understanding things, forensic investigators can discover the true way of beginning of any investigation by discovering the reasons behind it.
